Designed by Juan C. Ricardes, this home is of contemporary style located by Hillsborough Bay in South Tampa, sitting in an urban lot of 15.2 meters wide x 46 meters deep. The design reaches to address urban infill with an alternative solution, conscious of the existing buildings, urban grid and site as well as functionality. With clean lines and bold moves the architecture relates peacefully to the area with its own personality. The modern flow of the home allows for an inviting open space downstairs with a more traditional look and feel on the upper floor. Both areas are engaged sharing the main core open space between floors. The design layout and architecture is about sharing the inside spaces and activities engaging to the landscape. The architecture interacts to the environment and site allowing for maximum efficiency of energy resources and spaces. A detached garage at the rear of the property is accessed via tumbled block drive through a tandem covered porte-cochere. The covered area of porte-cochere allows an extension of the garage into the core of the house. The garage then is positioned as an extension of the home, fronted by a glass door complimenting the overall design.
