The house is located on a slight slope in the village of Schüpfheim in Switzerland.
The challenge for this individual home was a minimal budget, the desire for oblique-angled rooms as well as a high functionality.
The circular staircase positioned in the centre of the house, leads to the different functions and rooms which are located around it. The oblique-angled arrangement of the rooms allows an optimal view between the already existing neighbour-buildings.
The basement lies partly in the grown-terrain and was therefore built in concrete and masonry.
The ground floor is consequently built in wood. Apart from the flooring, all surfaces are covered with three-layer boards made of spruce. This creates a soft and cosy atmosphere in the living area, which is accentuated with a red kitchen.
When you leave the bright wooden ground floor, you dive in a fully different downstairs atmosphere held in various colours. It is like another world. The colours seems to make the house bigger and brings diversity, emotions and sensuality into the rooms.
The facade made of spruce it is treated with natural mud-colours. The striking red window gives you an idea of the interior colourfulness.
