House C - House for a Porsche 02: somewhere in the desert
gianluca milesi architecture, Milan, italy
This project is an example of simple architecture that can become an interesting and particular one because has been thought for a very particular situation and for a very particular person.
We think such an architecture can be suitable to be considered an XS architecture because is really “small” and because its architecture, simple and minimal but particular for the shape and the materials, can assume a meaning itself, despite of its dimensions.
To be more precise this is a project for a single and solitary man house and is placed in a remote place in the desert.
This person wanted a house far away from the city and he is a passionate driver of his Porsche.
Because of the client love for its Porsche, the normal relationship between a person and a car is turned up side down. The house should be design for the car first and for the people living it later.
So the idea for the house was to design an architecture, somehow “solitary”, shaped by the road connecting to the city and “growing” on the house; the volumes of the house are growing from the ground and the road becomes the roof of the house.
The relation between the road and the house and between the ground an the architecture is informing the whole project and it design, creates forms, volumes and space.
Geometrically speaking 2 volumes, intersecting themselves, host the living room, the dining room and the kitchen; a third separated volume hosts the bedrooms and the service parts. A glass volume connects the parts.
The house has been designed to be completely wrapped and covered with corrugated aluminum panels and wide glass openings are connecting the inside with the outside.
A pool sides the living room volume.
As the result the house is simple and minimal architecture in its conception but very particular because the reasons of this conception are very original.
