This is a corner site in Nkwazi Ridge Estate, and is in a elevated position with 180 degree panoramic views of Zinkwazi beach and the ocean.A major part of the concept was to create something dramatic to address the corner, and this was achieved by extending a solid double storey leg and capturing a large volume of negative space, which functionally serves as the covered patio area. The east sea facing elevation is almostcompletely open to the view with large amounts of glazing, whereas the north and west elevation form a solid carapace with small apertures, shielding the interior from the harsh sun. The planning of the house is very legible and open plan, with some experimentation of space and volume. The overriding intention was to maximize the breathtaking sea views from every room.
