This 3-star Hotel is the end result of combining a simple architectural aesthetic with the local traditional building of Afytos. Since the beginning, the main aim was that the visitor would enjoy all the comforts of a tourist accommodation, always in touch with the area’s local character.
Afytos is a timeless destination in Chalkidiki due to its particular traditional character and the stunning panoramic view of Kassandra gulf. Therefore we undertook the project of designing a tourist accommodation that connects tradition with tomorrow.
The task was challenging, due to the strict local legislation of the architectural style. Therefore this hotel was designed to exude a modern and fresh expression of the traditional morphology of Afytos. The use of simple materials such as white plaster, wood and the famous local stone of Afytos provide the building with a timeless character that harmoniously integrates it with the surrounding traditional buildings.
Designing the building, our main goal was to make the most out of the view of the gulf. Therefore, the rooms of the first floor has been arranged next to each other and directed towards the sea. The ground floor rooms were placed in corner arrangement of two building units. They have been placed around the pool and the outdoor lounge, in order to function as a vibrant “neighbourhood”.
The interior design of the hotel emits a minimal style according to the summer aesthetics imposed by Chalkidiki region. Finally, the reception area had been treated as the core space of the building. This is the reason it was placed at the intersection of the three units so that all visitors access their rooms through it.
