The Elysée Montmartre Hotel is a newly revitalized building adjacent to the historic Elysée Montmartre concert hall in Paris. Long abandoned, the 850-square-meter space has been transformed into a 16-room hotel with a cohesive, monochromatic interior built entirely from architectural woodwork and custom furnishings.
Policronica’s design studio and production workshop, based in Lisbon and Paris, conceived and manufactured 100% of the hotel’s elements — including furniture, lighting, and hardware. The project embraces a raw and warm material palette of eucalyptus wood, plant fibers, brass, and neutral fabrics, evoking a return to essentials in an urban context.
Nearly all interior elements were crafted in-house from locally sourced eucalyptus, an invasive species typically used for papermaking. Policronica worked directly with small forest owners to repurpose this undervalued material, demonstrating its potential for high-end architectural applications. The studio’s fully integrated production process — from raw timber to finished object — includes the development of proprietary solar vacuum dryers, enabling eucalyptus to dry in six days instead of 18 months while preventing warping or splitting. This approach minimizes material waste and reduces carbon emissions, embodying Policronica’s commitment to sustainable and innovative craftsmanship.
