The renovation of the historic Hotel Boulderado, built in 1909, preserves its historic legacy, while adding qualities that today’s guests expect in a boutique hotel. Stepping into the lobby, function was improved by relocating the front desk to better accommodate a large living room with several seating groups to enhance the cocktail and light menu service. The historic mosaic tile floor and fireplace were resurrected and restored.
The design focus for the new living room seating was to bring more activity into the historic, double-height atrium space. The furniture and fixtures were thoughtfully selected with contemporary palettes and fabrics to be contextual and respective for this unique space. The design process for the arrival experience is connected to the mezzanine above, guest corridors and guest rooms. Lighter, brighter finishes and artwork from the Boulder area were carefully curated to create a classic, trim, dapper look that harmonizes with the historic backdrop of the hotel.
