As part of the Preddvor tourist center, a thorough renovation of the former Hotel Bor by Lake Črnava is planned. The hotel is set in an idylic surroundings and dates back to 1970. It’s author is architect A. Sušnik. The appearance of the building clearly shows its belonging to the Alpine world.
In accordance with the area the hotel is located in and the guidelines of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, the renovation is in terms of materiality characterized especially by wood. Wood finds its place both on the facade and in the interior, softening the building with its warmth. The facade, in a combination of rough plaster and wooden slats, does not want to compete with the neighboring cultural monument – Hrib Castle, but nevertheless, playful dynamics of the wooden slats are created on the front facade, which is reflecting in the surface of the lake.
With the renovation the hotel will have 34 rooms, a sauna, a large multipurpose room, a bookstore, a lounge, a dining room, a kitchen and all the necessary service and technical rooms.
