The project provides keeping one of the existing facilities on the plot and maintaining its inner structure, as well as adoption of existing organization of the yard and the enclosure. In that way, the existing facility becomes a house for the hostel supervisor, while accommodation units and common rooms are set into a new building. The position of the old building is partly reserved at the new one, while complexity is recognized as a principle that we wanted to preserve. The hostel is planned as a kind of community, therefore mutual premises are important, and accommodation units have been reduced to minimal dimensions. Underground facilities have been activated for the purpose of better utilization of space. Among others, there is a nightclub, which could be used by local people, too.
The space inside the hostel can vary and be transformed, either for daily or long-term purposes. Some accommodation units are divided by mobile walls, which can be folded back in order to form a single space. During the period of maximum day activity, beds can be recessed in niches, hence provide more space.
