Hongyue Garden Community Center is situated at headquarters park of Hong Yue Gardening in Haining City, Zhejiang Province,China. It is renovated and extended on the base of the idle self-built houses of farmers with Chinese characteristics. Over the past decades, self-built houses of farmers‚ have replaced the traditional wood-built houses under the rapid development of cities in China, while now they have to be demolished and expropriated due to the further development of cities and have become flaws of urban environment to some extent. In the renovation design, the demolition of farmers‚ self-built houses are partially revealed. Positive attitude and method have be taken to make the buildings which had messy colors and styles participate in the surrounding environment harmoniously.It has offered people diverse life and chances to coexist with nature. The design studies people‚ living behaviors and did some creative construction on the porches, balconies and windows of the original houses based on various behaviors of people. It also creates more flexible spaces, which brings regions that only have one function more opportunities, thus making space more effective and flexible. More life spaces have been provided by the addition of sun rooms and bay windows, while steel meshes and grids create conditions for nature plants to grow, that makes it possible for residential architectures to interact with natural environment. In this connection, people can experience freedom and proximity brought by nature and explore more innovations by the nature life.
