The project task is the reconstruction of the office space on the ground floor of a residential building with an area of 42 m2 for the needs of the work and life of a multimedia artist. The main input parameter for the design was to enable maximum polyvalence of the space through low budget solutions, the main purpose of which is a hybrid between primarily a photography studio as the main activity of the artist, living space for a certain period and space for various gatherings. Given that the investor is active in the field of film and video on a large scale, the space should have been designed and executed with high quality in terms of acoustics, taking into account the context in which it is located on the ground floor on one of the city's main thoroughfares. Given that it was a reconstruction of a commercial space, the layout of the living and service spaces was reversed in relation to what would be considered a favorable orientation for a residential space. The service, which includes the kitchen, toilets and storage, is located in the south and has an exit to the back of the building, and a large multipurpose room that has been designed and built so that it can be a bedroom, living room, party space, photography studio, recording studio and the rest of the functions are oriented to the north and to the street. By designing and placing curtains in two micro-locations, the space is divided into smaller functional zones, depending on the way of use. The selection of used materials, textures and colors resulted from the request of the artist who set the basic conditions for the dispersion of sound and light in the space. The walls and ceilings are insulated in the form of sound-absorbing wood fiber panels, the curtains are stage curtains with certain acoustic characteristics, and dark tones of coverings are used to create an optimal working environment in the form of absorption of unwanted reflections. At a time when working from home is popularized, this is a project that moves life into the workspace.
