The commission was to remodel with a minimum budget the facade of an office building. The existing modular concrete structure was the starting point of our proposal: exposure of the original concrete and the use of commercial glass panels sizes to reduce waste. The window frames would be of galvanized steel to reduce the facade system cost, avoiding the expenses of a curtain wall. Each new glass module would be placed slightly shifted from the facade edge, adapting the unaltered modules to the existing structure dimensions and visually creating instability.
Plastically, the project deals with preexistence, modularity and instability. The corner was reaffirmed with an unstable and immaterial gesture. The building stands exposing its concrete skeleton, while random sparkling reflections saturate its immaterial presence.
