Double Helix House

"Home-for-All" for children in Higashimatsushima

Miyagi, Japan

YEAR
2013
Carrying out discussions with the residents, we designed a place where the local children living in temporary housing can get together, exchange their ideas and achieve heart-to-heart relationship. The operation of "Home-for-All" is now managed by the residents of temporary housing.

This " Home-for-All" that resembles a small town, composed 3 small homes with different character.
First home is named "Home of table" which has a big table inside for children to sit and gather. Second home is named "Home of wood stove" where residents can cook with a small kitchen and also there is a small wood stove which warms up the space gently in winter times. Third home is named " Home of theater" which can be moved to another place by human power like a vehicle.

This construction was supported by a private company "T Point Japan".
The construction costs have been raised by donation coming from "T Point" that is run all over Japan by them
