The Holy Family Trail consists of 25 stops.
The proposed prototype is to be adapted to the various locations of the Holy Family’s stops, based on the local architectural character, crafts, available building materials and any spatial requirements to be in harmony with the site.
The proposal suggests two prototypes of different scales to have flexibility according to the available plot size.
The project is considered part of the Government’s plan to boost Egypt’s ‘Religious Tourism’ through the Holy Family Trail. A tourism that targets humanity through the stories of the Holy Family.
It aims at creating catalysts for the revival of the trail through a network of community centers at the location of the stops to raise cultural and historical awareness both on the local and international levels.
Reviving the trail of the Holy Family is a national project as it is an urban development hub led by the tourism sector. The development of this axis would lead to the development of the surrounding communities along the path.
The Ministry has formed a national committee that includes experts from all concerned authorities to prepare a file for submission to UNESCO to list the trail of the Holy Family's journey on the intangible world heritage list.
