The
project theme is the construction of a villa on the private island of
Albarella, near the Po river delta.Water and sky were two of the
project’s generative elements, with the ground acting as a subtle
interface line.Continuity between the house and the garden and
greater landscape is achieved through broad windows, that intersect
flooring extending uninterruptedly to the swimming pool, which unites
the private space with the broad horizon of the lagoon. The
subdivision of the villa into three simple, distinct but
interconnected volumes, all faced in a copper mantle with supple
lines, harmonises with the prospects onto the water and the
direction of the prevailing winds. In the interior, the bathrooms are
finished in blue and green glass mosaics with stylised motifs evoking
the flora and fauna of the lagoon. These provide the colour accent to
the house, which otherwise features wood, natural metal and white
tones.Given the preferred view faces the water and the sandbanks, a
curved panelled wooden roof was chosen which integrates harmoniously
into the landscape and contributes to reducing the volumetric impact
of the building; it recalls the natural sand dunes of the Adriatic
coast and a boat anchored on the lagoon shore.
