This project addresses the issues faced by the Holbeck community after research into why the district feels disconnectedfrom the nearby city of Leeds, resulting in a high crime rate, low levels of employment and particular to this scheme, homelessness. The centre offers a safe and positive living environment for the homeless while they rebuild their lives, learning basic it skills, cooking, reading and most importantly the repair of household goods and furniture donated by the public. This programme results in a building that acts as a hub for residents of Holbeck and visitors from Leeds, offering a place for peopleto meet, learn and recycle goods, revitalising the area and bridging the gap between the city and its rapidly fading neighbour.
