This original Mid Century house was located in a prominent corner with a wide lot in the front. The program called for adding a new entrance, dining room, Master Suite and Garage. The challenge was to design the house to make the addition as part of the existing house and enforce the way that the house looked from the corner. For that reason a play of angles between the Master bedroom above and the garage below opened the house entirely to the site and be able to frame views to quieter corners. Every room in the house has at least one window that looks at different areas of the site. The new entrance was an exercise of creating a new inviting volume and keep the low existing roof line and allow wonderful views to the adjacent garden.
