Immersion of the visitor in a theatrical environment, using the asymmetrical maze of alleys of the medieval city as the décor to mask the impression of a traditional museum space. The windows, using sophisticated optical fiber lighting, appear as niches inserted in the labyrinth’s walls, producing an amazing close relationship between the spectator and the objects of the museum’s collection. The museum offers 1 500 pieces from its collection, audio, audiovisual and interactive media presentations in three dimensions with objects from the collection, interactive terminals and manipulations. The centerpiece of the exhibition, a 6 m by 12 m relief model of Strasbourg in the years 1725 to 1727, reproduces the city and its immediate geographical vicinity on a scale of 1/600.
