The Miller Family Farm has been continuously occupied by my family for over 100 years. The existing structure is the second residence to be built on the property and has been occupied for approximately 100 years. Over the decades several additions and modifications have been made including the addition of the north-south wing which doubled the floor area. Much of the original detailing has been lost. Based on photographic records and research most of the details have been recreated matching original dimensions. Jack Miller (my father) currently resides on the farm and has undertaken the task of reconstructing the original components. Most of the lumber used in the original construction was milled on-site with trees cleared from the crop lands so dimensional accuracy became a major hurdle. Jack is a skilled craftsman and has elected to recreate the elements by hand. In addition to the exterior restoration he has also started interior renovations to restore aging and damaged finishes, trim, and components including construction of new built-in cabinets and restoration of original ice boxes, pie safes, hutches, etc. Additional changes such as the installation of energy efficient windows and are also being completed.
