A renovation of a two-story house with a beautiful view of Los Angeles. The existing house had turned its back to the outside, alienating the interior from the exterior. Our first move was to open up the house to the existing deck in order to engage the house towards the view. By replacing the small wood doors and enclosed deck with Fleetwood aluminum sliders and a new glass rail, the house embraces life as it was meant to be lived in Southern California. The multi-directional sliders offer many options of dividing the open living room plan. A new 30’ long steel beam was hoisted above the roof and set upon new steel columns, the dramatic orchestration of simple moves reinvents this residence, breathing new life into the 1920 structure.
