The High Meadow Mountain House, located on the
Catskill Mountains in Maplecrest, NY, is based upon a modified version of the
2-bar bridge typology. The house is situated on an open field with views of the
adjacent and surrounding mountains. The main communal living spaces occur on
one end of the house and a guest suite is on the other separated by a
screened porch. Above bedrooms and a media space bridge the 2 bars below. It
utilizes several energy-saving and environmentally conscious energy systems and
materials. This 2,900 sq. ft. home also includes an additional 1,000
sq.ft. Insulated concrete form finished basement as well as expansive rooftop
views from the upper level roof decks. This house is RES4's first house
seeking the National Association of Home Builder's Green Home Building gold
certification.
