A small rolling gate for a house offered an opportunity to test ongoing design research into issues of pattern, camouflage, perception, direct-to-fabrication processes, and parametric design tools on a limited budget. Using Grasshopper3d, the design evolved to test patterns of interference that produce variation when viewed by someone walking, biking or driving by the house. A two-color paint process on the wood elements combine with aluminum fins and their reflective qualities to heighten this pattern, appearing to transform over time with seasonal, contextual variations
