The Hero headquarter office is located in Bintaro – an emerging satellite town in the southwestern outskirts of Jakarta, Indonesia. The design for this office aims to respond to the urban ailments faced by Jakartans on a daily basis as well as an exercise to rethink the typology of a corporate office in Indonesia. The design is modeled after the principles of a campus – an open plan, collaborative space, which supports different style of working with breakout areas infused with greeneries. The open plan setting helps to break down the typical hierarchical feel of a corporate office while the green “canyon” in the middle of the building acts as a place of refuge as well as a social incubator to vertically integrate the office workers from the different departments of the company. Through this gesture, visual connectivity between the floor levels is maintained while natural light is able to enter deeper into the depth of the floor plates.
