The project site is located in the hills of Reggio Emilia. In particular, we are on the hills of a small interesting historical town that have been part of the lands of Matilde di Canossa, a powerful medieval feudal castle .
The geographical position gives here a wide panorama: the river, the verdant hills and the valley all around.
The main objective was to contextualize the new town in a harmonious way with this kind of historical- geographical characteristics. The first step has been engaged by a major research on rural architecture of the place, in particular has deepened the theme of the materials and proportions.
The result is an architecture that is inspired by this historical research, but at the same time is aware of the era in which it is located , and then leaves elements of contemporary technologies to merge with them.
The result is a composition which highlight details that characterized the forms of the past : the barn, the house, the garage, the porch and loggia. The materials are authentic and speak with honesty structures : the river stone , brick floors, wood-paneled ceilings , to accommodate a subtle contrast with large windows mirrored , rational galleries and parapets.
The search for detail is then inserted into a wider landscape design that meets the criteria of the local area, so only native vegetation , alternating between them, as well as they used to in the past to mark boundaries of agricultural land, together with tall oaks taken from the surrounding hills . All this added to the urbanization of the little features towering , respectful decorated and dimly lit , just to develop an atmosphere of equilibrium between the built and the natural , the new and the past , the landscape and the particular.
