STUDIO V Architecture is reimagining the lobby at Helena 57 West using the latest sustainable
materials, and fabrication technology for one for one the most innovative green developers,
The Durst Organization. The new lobby is defined by a stack-laminated wooden form fabricated by SITU
Fabrication from more than 4,000 board feet of Accoya pine, an innovative sustainable natural wood
infused with natural by-products of sugar refinery to make it impervious to the elements. In a single
gesture, the canopy curls upwards from its base, sweeps across the lobby ceiling and slides through the
front door to create a portico. Drawing inspiration from the modernist designs of Alvar Aalto and Arne
Jacobsen, STUDIO V’s lobby redesign makes a bold, international statement at Helena 57 West.
