Heilongjiang Museum
For several years, the local government has been in pursuit of the ultimate solution for the provincial museum that is symbolically clear and speaks for the regional history and culture.
The mountains and the rivers, the water and the soil, are the ongoing subjects of the land.
“White mountains and black water” has become the well-known slogan of the Heilongjiang province due to its geographical conditions.
The design hosts six different themes of exhibition halls as the main body of the “white mountains”. Using the soft ridges of the white mountains for the roofs of the mains exhibition halls, the roof of the public space circulation corridor becomes the “black water”. Like the river, these public corridors connect all the exhibitions halls, in a strong and continuous way like waves of the river.
