The
HealthNow corporate headquarters and operations center, prominently
located next to the New York Niagara Section Thruway, is a distinctive
“landmark” building. The design utilizes an 1859 stone façade to
maintain historic preservation of the site’s past while incorporating a
curved glass curtain wall to lend a progressive 21st century image to
the building. The curtain wall not only offers magnificent views of
Lake Erie, but its southern exposure provides a valuable component of
the building’s sustainability features. In addition, sunscreens and
light shelves for day lighting, energy efficient systems, under-floor
air distribution, and the use of “green” building materials and
construction practices are all part of the overall environmental design.
