First LEED Platinum building in Northwest OhioAs a leading real estate investment trust Health Care REIT is a premier “solutions” company in health care and senior living- providing a full spectrum of capital, design and development, and property management services. Health Care REIT recently acquired the former headquarters of the Dana Corporation in Toledo sited on 166 acres of mature landscape and gently rolling terrain. The original 1970’s era structure has been transformed into a modern state-of-the-art facility designed to embody the goals of the Corporation by creating a comfortable workplace conducive to creative thinking and collaboration. Because concern for the natural environment was a major consideration in all design and development decisions, the campus incorporates leading-edge concepts in sustainability and energy effectiveness. Daylighting has been introduced into the center of the structure with the addition of two new atria; and large curtain walls of glass located in strategic areas of the plan provide additional natural light at the perimeter. A large solar array will supplement energy needs. A new pond will manage storm water and provide supplemental water for irrigation. A walking path, fitness center and food service will provide for culinary and recreational needs. The renovation of the 166-acre campus is a transformative symbol of Health Care REIT’s progress providing a platform to support the ongoing leadership and growth of its business.
