The vision is to create an environmentally sustainable, forward-looking corporate headquarters with a distinct architectural expression. The ‘bastion’ is removed from the building, giving an additional floor and achieving a holistic integration building geometry, construction principles, and interior climate concept, all while minimizing floor deck height and maximizing room height. The addition of an extra level allows for a continuous atrium rising through all levels, furnished with ‘hanging gardens’ of meeting and lounge platforms, bridges, and open stairs. Two vertical service cores define the atrium; one core is ‘green’, covered in climbing plants, the other core is ‘blue’, with full-height water-art.The facades, homogenous bands of brickwork perforated by a net of openings, are marked by large, lone apertures in the forms of portals, bay windows, and dormers. With the atrium as the connecting thread, the varied spatial and daylight environments provide a dynamic corporate culture with space for individual concentration, teamwork, knowledge sharing and networking.
