This is SOL space the office space for Cookies Agency, an independent advertising agency in Milan.
The request was to create an open, flexible, bright and energetic place where ideas can circulate and contaminate each other, to bring magic and spirituality into the offices, while guaranteeing the functionality necessary for a dynamic work space.
The strength of the space is expressed by a mix of compositional elements and the involvement of a diverse team with
specific knowledge.
The furniture: in which contemporary elements are contaminated with vintage furniture; the greenery; designed together with Diego Recchia, who interpreted the theme of using plants as a material and as a space dividing element; the use of colour
and curtains designed together with Chiara Zennaro; some pieces of art, drawings and sculptures created ad hoc
by Giulia Tubelli, as a whole to complete the concept design.A strong desire to welcome, dialogue and create new synergies.
We worked with an open plan space, the only closed spaces are occupied by two meeting rooms, an assembly hall
and a storage.
The unusual starting point for the project was the request, by our client, to work on a selection of sacred animals from the Maya Toltec tradition: the bear, the hummingbird, the coyote, etc.
The drawings define the entrance and lounge areas, the cuts in the walls consecutive to each other, form a caledoscope
between the open space and the large meeting room. The desire is to to re-think about work spaces:
working together, crossing gazes, creating dialogue.
The space, a former industrial space, has simple finishes in continuity with its history, concrete floor,
original metal green laquered windows, walls are simply plastered and painted.
The use of colour was essential to warm and characterise the spaces, along with the choice of furniture finishes
between glossy and matt, and the enrichment of the spaces with decorative curtains.
For the technical office furnishings we worked with Manerba, a leading company in the field of office furniture in italy, that manages to combine quality and durability, with a wide choice of colours and finishes. Our choise was desks with neutral colours and simple shapes, technical seating with fluorescent red seat cushion, combined with gabriel fabric sofas in recycled polyester in salmon colour intense.
The storage and shelving elements, which are also valuable for subdividing open-plan spaces, are designed ad hoc with
Situer milano who reinterpret industrial shelving with mastery and allow the use of lacquer on metal in bright colours.
The kitchen in Fenix alternating sage green and dark green is compact and characterised by a long counter.
The technical lights were designed with Formalighting, created dimensionally and chromatically ad hoc.
In the large entrance the reception counter is an old 1950s piece of furniture used in grocery stores for loose legumes and rosettes which has been restored and integrated with a pink aluminium shelf and bronzed polycarbonate top.
An old table football that was formerly owned by the agency, was converted into a high table for informal meetings.
A large curtain, in the large corridor occupied by the kitchen, decorated with taftà fabrics and silver and gold technical nets, represents the element of dream within the space, inspired by Fellini's world aim to materialize the vision of the project : through her one enters a new world.
The project has been a field of experimentation and dialogue with a company with female management, a demanding client
with whom we were able to discuss profound aspects of the project and the significance of bringing these thoughts into the realisization of the project. We wanted to shift our gaze and bring a new point of view, not necessarily just female, but
different.
