The project, located in the residential neighborhood in Tokyo, is for a young couple with pets such as a cockatoo, a cat and tropical fishes. The design is resulted from the compositional development of the volume of the second floor, which primarily houses private bed rooms. This part is intended to generate the rhythmical movement responding to the contextual issues. The project tries to enhance the interactive mitigation with the surrounding streetscape. Most streets there are essentially tree lined. The project tries to provide the relaxing ambience, following the clients` wish.
On the south east corner of the property, there located a city registered camphor tree. This corner symbol tree is to initiate the architectural promenading. The individual scenes, whose episodes are deliberately coordinated, are to appear sequentially along the expected promenading route. The patio-facing staircases are located in the central portion of the house. The patio space is intended to provide the tranquility. This is the space to enjoy the intimacy. On the contrary, the airy living room, with a kitchen behind the central tall cabinet, occupies the major part of the ground floor. This central tall cabinet, sit in the middle of the void space, anchors the house itself. There is the top-located study room, from which the roof balcony can be accessed. Both the roof balcony and the ground floor garden are intended to animate the house with their affluent greenery. The western exposed second floor balcony is to serve as a major intermediary space, where people enjoy the sunset drinks, viewing the farm land of the western adjacent property.
