The design of this vacation home in Hawaii started with the concept of modular spaces that not only provide the privacy that the family desired for themselves and guests, it blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor living. With large windows and sliding doors, the home embraces the perfect climate and views this location offers.
A thoughtfully-designed vacation home should be both beautiful and easy to call home, whether for a few days or a few months at a time. The modular approach of the design makes it simple to use only those portions of the home needed at the time — the owner’s suite, on the left in the images, has direct access to the pool and sun deck and connects by covered walkway to the kitchen and living space. The guest rooms, extending off the opposite side of the central shared living space, are out of the main flow of the home and are untouched until guests come to stay.
The home is situated on the property and designed to bring in views while it provides shade as needed. Construction materials and the internal systems were selected for environmental performance and energy efficiency.
