Haute Garonne Chamber of Agriculture

Toulouse, France

STATUS
Built
YEAR
2017
As a public institution, Chamber of agriculture represents economic actors of agriculture. The project had to be exemplary in its design and implementation as an emblematic figure for the local farming community.

The project is born from one idea : its relationship to the ground.
Because of its mineral origin, the concrete (made of local aggregate) is chosen as main material : not only for the structure, but also used as exposed concrete for the façades and the exterior paths. The user can see and feel the material that is left visible.

Following the theme of Nature, the concept is to reinterprate the image of nest perched in the trees. Located at the last level of the building, those « nests » made of colored metallic brushwood are perforated, allowing transparency and variations of natural light. The destructured look of the building reminds the trees anatomy, made of different types and sizes of branches.

The landscaping is a mix of mineral spaces (parking) and vegetal spaces (gardens), as an echo of the fields seen from the sky.

The team decided to focus on the construction of a positive energy building. This approach allowed obtaining the BEPOS label.
