Reflections and
repetitions created by extensive glazing and mirrors melt together the inside
and the outside. Text fragments are being perceived all over and reproduced
within the depth of the space. The limits disappear into infinity and the space
dissolves more and more. Generosity in light and space are other design assets
of this new hairdresser’s shop. A new large-size window precisely positioned in
the back of the space establishes a diagonal relationship between the hectic
street corner and the peaceful backyard. These high-contrasted perceptions of
the outside spaces affect the arrangement of the brief. Thus the calm areas
look into the relaxing backyard where as the hectic zones are oriented towards
the open street corner. Furthermore, a new volume - the back office – is
inserted into the shop, so as to enhance the diagonal constellation of the
different areas, as well as to pronounce and introduce the lower level. This
project concentrates on essential elements. Big scale mirrors put the customers
in a new perspective and provide a completely new perception of the space. All
built-in components are produced in a solid way and furnished with
prefabricated items, so as to control the esthetics. A sober space is created
and enriched with the lively and scenographic movements of the people working. This
project is a creative approach towards a solution that emphasizes spatial
themes without the need of overpriced details.
