Presenting the newly completed Harvey Nichols Activewear Store, located in Al Faisaliyah Mall, Riyadh. Designed as a bold reinterpretation of the luxury retail environment, the 551 sqm space merges the rawness of industrial design with the refined aesthetic of a futuristic fashion destination. The concept draws inspiration from urban grit and athletic performance culture—elements that materialize through exposed glass-brick walls, concrete-style flooring, and reflective mirror ceilings. These are juxtaposed with cyan-frosted glass, sleek metallic finishes, and ambient neon lighting, creating a layered and immersive spatial narrative.
The design challenge lay in harmonizing contrasting themes: industrial toughness with luxury sophistication, and edginess with function. We have worked closely with the client to ensure the store maintained Harvey Nichols’ international brand identity while introducing a unique design language tailored to the local context. Key to the success of the project was balancing material boldness with a sense of openness and accessibility. Every finish—from distressed metal cladding to stainless steel shelving—was prototyped to meet aesthetic, functional, and sustainability goals.
Construction techniques focused on modularity, durability, and visual impact. Display systems incorporated hanging elements suspended from the ceiling using steel rods and industrial hooks, while stepped platforms and curved steel counters softened the otherwise angular environment. A mix of LED track and tube lighting added dynamic visual rhythm, spotlighting key merchandise zones and encouraging customer exploration.
The spatial configuration was divided into two main zones, unified through a consistent industrial-futuristic theme, yet differentiated by subtle shifts in flooring materials, ceiling design, and lighting. These zones were designed to intuitively guide movement, allowing customers to engage with both activewear and tech gadgets in a curated flow. Strategic display placement, high-contrast textures, and open sightlines enhanced the shopping experience, making the space feel energetic yet controlled.
Sustainability and inclusivity were integral to the project’s ethos. Materials such as stainless steel were chosen not only for their durability and finish but also for their recyclability and low environmental impact. Energy-efficient lighting and responsible HVAC systems further minimized operational carbon footprint. The design also took into account accessibility for all users, aiming to create a retail environment that is as inclusive as it is inspiring.
With this project, we aimed to deliver a striking new retail identity for Harvey Nichols—one that challenges traditional store layouts and immerses customers in a world where fashion, performance, and design intersect seamlessly.
