HIGH TECH-LOGISTICS CENTER WITH AN ATTACHED ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING FOR THE GLOBALLY ACTIVE HARTING TECHNOLOGY GROUP
Located in Espelkamp, North Rhine-Westphalia on an area of 18,000 square meters, the European Distribution Center (EDC) is equipped with an automated small parts high-bay warehouse and high-speed shuttle and is one of the most innovated logistic centers in Europe. The photovoltaic system on the roof supplies the electricity for the logistics centre. The energy requirements for cooling and heating are covered by biomethane from our own production and a geothermal system, which minimises CO2 emissions. Here, state-of-the-art logistics technology and ergonomic workplaces are combined in perfect harmony.
The EDC consists of a high-bay warehouse, order picking with incoming and outgoing goods, service building with workshops and a container washing line along with the administration area and representative reception foyer.
The administration area for approx. 60 employees is characterized by the modern concept of open work spaces: An open landscape of different work areas on several floors offers HARTING employees a light-flooded working environment that precisely meets the requirements for contemporary, efficient work. Open office spaces with wide glazing are communication-supporting revealing the view in the hall. Added to the management area is an employee's bistro with adjoining outdoor area for lunch outdoors.
The HARTING Technology Group has been awarded the golden German Brand Award, with the company garnering the prize for its innovative European Distribution Center.
“The EDC impresses with its hypermodern, pleasantly open and light-suffused architecture that offers communicative proximity as well as interesting visual axes over multiple levels. It features a holistically developed architectural design that not only reflects environmental but also social values. The EDC thereby highlights the corporate philosophy in clear fashion while simultaneously demonstrating the company’s technological logistics expertise in an impressive manner,” the jury stated in its decision. “The EDC’s innovative intralogistics solutions make it a flagship project of the company's technological logistics expertise. Our products are encountered everywhere in the building, in its technology, its systems, its interior,” as Board Chairman Philip Harting.
