Harrington Square transforms a previously disused site in the heart of the Camden Conservation Area into 11 elegantly crafted homes. Once home to 5 Georgian terrace houses, this site was tragically bombed during World War II and has remained vacant ever since. The development honors the historical essence of the area while embracing a modern perspective.
Drawing inspiration from the classical proportions and rhythmic façades of the mid-19th century terrace houses that define the surrounding streetscape, the design seamlessly blends traditional design with contemporary methodologies.
Traditional materials, including hand-laid brickwork and custom metalwork, form the foundation of the design, with Juliet balconies featuring intricate detailing reminiscent of the decorative cast-iron seen on nearby 19th century terraces. The palette and materials ensure the development blends harmoniously with its historic context.
While respecting the architectural heritage of the area, the scheme remains contemporary in nature, reinterpreting classical elements with a new layer of continuity.
