The SOSH Architects team was tasked with creating a laid back lounge and lobby bar as a counterpoint to the high-energy nightlife experiences offered at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City. The challenge was to transform under-used lobby and retail space into an elegant and relaxed whiskey bar atmosphere. While the final design is fundamentally traditional with library-like detailing, the team incorporated several modern twists in the furnishings and lighting. Color-changing light walls display more than 600 varieties of whiskey. Unconventional art work, including forty faux tortoise shells and an X-ray image of a woman’s dress, provides great fodder for conversation. The final result is a sophisticated space for guests to enjoy a quiet martini, glass of wine or specialty coffee drink.
