Both native Floridians, this Tampa couple selected a waterfront lot in Pasco County’s Harbor Pointe community. With two daughters, the family enjoys an active outdoor, water sports and fitness oriented lifestyle. With respect to style, the “California Modern” architecture was achieved by incorporating organic materials such as white quartz ledgestone, smooth pebbles, and richly colored woods to provide warmth to the simplistic, clean lined design. The couple envisioned a tasteful yet simple environment that would flow seamlessly between indoor and outdoor spaces, bringing “the outside in.” The challenge was met by designing a rooftop observatory, breezeways, and open interior living spaces with an expansive use of glass. The airy design elements repeated between interior and exterior spaces harmonize the outdoor and indoor architecture. Practical functionality was also top priority with tracking wet pets and beach sand indoors and housing the family’s paddle boards and kite surfing equipment. One of the couple’s key design pillars was to use durable, readily-available products to achieve a simplified design, versus selecting high-maintenance, custom imported products – a mistake they felt they had made when remodeling their prior home. Each level of the home features key design components to enjoy such as an in-home gym, junior and master suites, private guest quarters, kids bunkroom, and a glass atrium stair tower leading to a rooftop patio with a bonus outdoor space and hot tub. The entire home features beautiful views of the Gulf.
