Situated within the Essex greenbelt, the building is set into the sloped site and accessed via a single-track lane offering glimpses of the building as you approach.
The new dwelling complements the established qualities of the site and respect the setting within the surrounding area. The house is of contemporary design with simple clean lines and utilises modern materials of predominantly vertical cladding and large areas of render. The building is made up of a number of different elements with varying heights to break up the bulk of the building across the split levels to create a form that merges the house into the landscape.
The thermal mass of the concrete floors and highly insulated SIP panels structure help to maintain an excellent ambient internal temperature. An integrated MVHR heat recovery system ensures the demand for internal space heating is kept to a minimum.
