The project is a 2,000 sf. single family home located in the historic district of Sacramento, CA. The historical review committee required the existing pitched roof to remain on the front portion of the house, which influenced the rooftop design concept. Using a cedar frame, we created a simple modular system of construction that utilized sunlight and space. To maximum energy efficiency, the building was designed to fully allow for passive cooling in the summer and low cost heating in the winter. Major emphasis was placed on sustainability.
