The Hane’s residence is a new modern home in the hills in the Appalachian Mountains. As a vacation home, the house is design to have private rooms with sliding doors and balconies and private bathrooms so that multiple families could visit and enjoy the home at the same time. The home features large open community spaces on the main level and lower level. The majority of the North wall in the main living space and kitchen opens up as a sliding door to a terrace. The lower level walkout opens to a large terrace with mountain views.
The home features European fixtures and fittings. Bathroom fixtures, kitchen cabinets and appliances are all European. The exterior façade is of a think porcelain tile from Italy.
The house features super-insulated construction as well as a metal roof with high thermal reflective properties. Other sustainable fixtures and features include cross ventilation, thermal chimney passive design as well as orientation to keep interior spaces cool during the hot summer months.
