The whole second year at IIT was dedicated to technical drawing/drafting. More specifically focusing on learning brick bonds, and how they came together in constructing fire places, roofs, windows, wall corners and whole buildings. The assignment being to design a writer's studio constructed of bricks. The final product being hand drafted drawings of elevations, sections, roof detail and plans with thousand of bricks.The second part of that same year was devoted to timber and stone construction where all kinds of roof, wall, sill , door, and window connection had to be represented in large scale and one to one drafted drawings. This time the project being a vacation home near lake Michigan, in Michigan state, this time there were no restrictions of the layout, and the outcome once more being elevations, sections, roof details, floor plan and a final wood model.
