The particularity of the stadium in Valenciennes is its position in the heart of town, surrounded by houses. The project proposes an arena dug into the existing site, of which the visible part is protected by a metal shell that isolates it from its immediate context. The size and arrangement of the cladding recalls the traditional overlapping tiles of housing in the north of France and gives it an almost artisanal quality at the scale of the visitor.
To the west, a multicolour screen prints the different events at the “club house” and orients the stadium along the urban axis of the neighbourhood.
