HÄFELE DESIGN CENTER PHUKET is the result of a thorough sustainable design concept, a greener approach towards commercial architecture.
A modern European inspired village walk, sheltered by a large floating roof is designed to enjoy a unique peace-of-mind shopping experience in the midst of an adjacent alfresco natural forest backdrop.
The layout with gaps between each of the pavilions allows the adjacent lush tropical forest to penetrate into the compound, with the roof acting as environmental shelter, water collector and passive coolant, fanning a fresh natural breeze from the nearby forest through the entire building.
The architectural landmark and most memorable element of the ensemble is the 16m high futuristic shaped red cone, topped by a rotating, illuminated Ä sign, reflecting the company’s identity.
One of the reasons for this project to become so successful is the fact that architecture, interior and exterior have been planned in a synchronistic way, creating a harmonious ensemble of contemporary architecture.
In 2013 the building has been awarded with DGNB gold, being the first project in South-East Asia certified by the German Sustainable Building Council.
