Warehouse Turned Office in the Industrial Jungle
Located in the industrial area of Culver City, the Hayden building was an existing concrete tilt-up warehouse that was converted to a dynamic creative office environment. The Abramson Architects design team conceptualized a modern treehouse that mimics the serenity of a forest. Raw and industrialized elements remain woven throughout to maintain its urban nature.
Playing with negative space, the facade replicates tree branches and exterior columns serve as tree trunks. Pops of orange bring a warmth to the rigid exterior.
The existing interior was divided up for multiple departments and loft-like layers were added for extra work space. Despite these divisions, a sense of openness remains. An exposed wood canopy furthers the overall concept, both in its relevance to the forest and in its industrial style.
