Architecture -> Machine of operation
In this context the architecture becomes the machine of operation for Hacking coffee roaster, an ex-programmer who becomes a well-known Certified Coffee Roaster and Coffee Beans hunter. He goes out and hunt around the world for unique and high quality coffee beans, By cutting out large co-operations he is able to serve High quality coffee in a fair price to everyone.
The existing front entrance was relocated to a more discrete side-entrance through the alley behind the sky high solid wall that represents the corrupted system. Moving steel facade provides Sunshades and Hiddenness from the busy street to the operation. This also provides constant movement of external appearance through out the day representing the constant movements of machine that is purely functional.
The main interior design were inspired by each parts of computer, the main coffee counter becomes processor where all the electric wires enters. The concept of architecture are machines, is emphasised by the internal concrete formed walls and columns that were excavated to reveal the computer motherboards and other electrical parts underneath.
Inside the Vault door. This is where the Higher ranking member can taste the very best coffee beans made by the Key Master, the founder of the Hacking operation himself. A reservation only Coffee Omakase space where customer can enjoy coffee in a more exclusive and private experience.
At the back a futuristic Zen garden is designed with a very minimal amount of plants but still feels refreshing by the sound of flowing water, suitable for a rugged and polluted future environment. The paths of the water were inspired by the computer’s circuit board where The central pond represents the processor. All the forms were made by wooden formed concrete to provides the traces of the lost nature.
