The project theorizes a system for the conversion and recover in civic life of deteriorated areas of urban centers by exploiting the opportunities offered by the major unused industrial areas.
The system is based on modular elements semi-finished and mounted in series, suitable for every type of use due to their flexibility and modularity.
With a humanistic approach, the project proposes a new urban environment rich in natural suggestions based on the idea of a reconciliation with the natural habitat, without waiving the benefits of human greatest invention: the city!
Module-units are mounted in an articulated way in an artificial canyon, with the characteristics of a urban linear park, creating a city district, vitalized by many different public and private activities.
The articulated section of the canyon is obtained by ground movements, utilising the earthworks for making artificial hills.
The system can be extended by calibrating the size of the linear park, which can in turn become another type of a larger scale to be repeated in series, thus extending the intervention to the landscape level.
The housing unit type is characterized by open and flexible interior spaces with a minimum number of partitions by a fixed translucent walls and by a lot of light thanks to the use of glass walls that can be completely opened, shielded from solar radiation through wood's panels openable like a book.
This type of housing allows the module to become a sort of large space platform suspended between the trees.
Trees and water basins of rainwater recovered, participate actively in the passive control of the microclimate, based primarily on natural low-tech systems, and low environmental impact.
