H apartment is a renovation project of almost 40 years old apartment, which is used as a holiday home. It is located by lake Ashi, which is famous for hot spring and fishing in the lake.
The apartment is shared by a family with 4 generations and its relatives. The apartment has been untouched since its construction. Its structure keeps original division corridor, living / dining / kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. The renovation’s focus is on former two areas and latter two areas are remained plain and applied minimal changes.
Main theme of renovation is to add touch of cuteness to the space to entertain great grand daughters of family.
The color scheme, pink and light purple is chosen by taste of great grand daughters. In addition white and gray are chosen as support colors, which highlight pink and light purple. The colors are used in each aspect of living / dining / kitchen and unite the space into one.
Original wall shelf is created to add character to the space and to strengthen color theme. In addition the shelf realizes functionality as mot of color parts can be opened and used as storage.
Black color is applied to corridor to highlight the lights coming from the windows of the living room. Original illustration is drawn by Yuichiro Natori based on the motif direction, great grandmother who loves knitting, fishing which is family’s leisure in this place, surrounding nature such as indigenous lily. Also to add sense of cute and dreamy was a request.
