The starting point for the conception of this apartment was the use of the privileged views of thenearby gorge, which led to the constant search and relationship with the exterior, using all the windows as living canvases.
“Nature as a source of inspiration. To be within nature. The spaces have to transmit the passage of the day, the passage of time.” Rafael Aranda, RCR arquitectes, MEXTROPOLI 2018.
These views are emphasized generatinga physical relation, achieved thanks to a terrace that runs throughout the apartment, contributing to an alternative and playful communication between the different spaces.
In its distribution, the spaces are conceived creating the kitchen area as the main space that opens completely to the rest of the apartment thanks to sliding wooden doors that glide with apparent weightlessness, according to the need for privacy. Around it, the rest of the program appears between continuous planes and wood wainscoting that give rhythm and flexibility to the spaces and, at the same time, they generate interesting and playful light effects showing the passage of time.
We studied the versatility of the spaces to generate different spatial compositions in which the materials, in their contrast and overlap, bring warmth and life to each space, becoming more extroverted or private and passing unnoticed from the most public areas of the apartment.
Marble, as the prevailing material, it is used in floors and walls contrasting with the solid wood volumes, with its apparent monolithism, are the key pieces in the composition of the vertical planes. The fluted marble creates different effects of light and shadows that shows the passage of time.
The design of this apartment has been guided from the global conception, up to the solution of every detail. The furniture, partly designed by us, is also conceived under the premise of this surface camouflage game that hide everything necessary for the perfect performance of each space.
The result are amazing experience, observation and enjoyment spaces.
